The definitive modern fast fifty — nineteen years as the M system's benchmark standard lens.

The 2004 ASPH replaced four decades of pre-ASPH optics with a design that was sharp wide open, controlled in the corners, and still drew with warmth — the balance that made it the default "buy this" answer for a fast M fifty until the 2023 close-focus refresh. A floating element keeps close-range performance honest; build quality is peak Solms/Wetzlar. Codes: 11891 black, 11892 silver.
