Leica M10-R
NotableThe M10-R brought 40MP resolution to the M rangefinder, matching the resolving power demanded by Leica's best ASPH lenses and setting the stage for the M11.
The M10-R (July 2020) answered a persistent request: give us the M10 with more megapixels. The 40MP BSI CMOS sensor delivers substantially more detail than the 24MP M10/M10-P, and the BSI (backside-illuminated) design improves low-light performance. At 40 megapixels on a full-frame sensor, the M10-R could resolve differences between individual M lenses that lower-resolution sensors simply blurred over.
It arrived alongside the 41MP Monochrom as a clear statement: Leica was serious about high-resolution digital rangefinders. The M10-R became the pinnacle of the M10 generation for colour photography and holds up well against the M11 that followed in 2022.
